The iconic Smiths of Smithfield on Charterhouse Street and opposite the north side of the meat market has been undergoing a major refurbishment programme. It has now re-opened its four floors of restaurants and bars – ranging from the casual ground floor Café and Bar to the more formal top floor gourmet restaurant and terrace.
Smiths describes itself as a stunning example of a Grade II listed building that, over the years has evolved to its present-day design of four floors, each offering a unique dining and drinking experience. Because of its location only a short walk from the Western side of the complex, Smiths has always been a firm favourite withBarbican residents.
The dining and drinking options are as follows:
The Ground floor ‘SMITHS’ Cafe and Bar
Serving breakfast through to dinner, brunch plates and bright, vibrant salads, nostalgic soul-warming dishes and traditional hearty classics. Along with this, the ground floor bar offers an authentic range of London craft beers and distilled spirits through to world class wines, classic and contemporary cocktails. It is a popular breakfast venue through the week, but alos for more casual dining at other times.
The First Floor Death + Victory cocktail lounge
This intimate cocktail lounge is a destination in itself but Smiths also markets it as offering a desirable space for hosting private parties and home to ‘the boardrooms’ for the perfect meeting space.
The Second Floor Grill
Proud of the butchery heritage location in which Smiths is located right opposite the meat market, it champions its provenance and stands proud as a British grill. On this floor one can enjoy prime cuts of meat and locally sourced ingredients, along with an addition of a chef’s table to truly experience the theatre of butchery.
N0.3 Restaurant & Terrace
Focusing on top quality and hand-picked ingredients, the elegant top floor fine dining restaurant offers a menu of high-end dishes. It offers views over the meat market and neighbouring rooftops and in fine weather spills out onto the Terrace
