Community Fair 2015 logoThe City of London Community Fair 2015

The Community Fair will be back in the Guildhall Yard for another day of fun, entertainment and activities on Saturday 13 June from 12 to 4.30pm.

The Fair is a chance for residents, tenants and friends of all ages to come together and celebrate the diversity of life in the Square Mile. The historic Guildhall Yard will once again be a blaze of colour, sound and hopefully sunshine!

Live entertainment

Highlights this year on the main stage and arena include a return of our popular ballroom dancing feature. There will be more performances and demonstrations from rising stars Nick and Cheyenne plus two interactive workshops hosted by Strictly legend Erin Boag.

Other acts include:

  • Soul soundalike tribute band The Sound of the Commitments
  • Acapella vocal group Apollo 5
  • Juggler Ben Nicholson from the National Centre for Circus Arts
  • Gifted young musicians from our City schools
  • Contemporary morris dancing starlets the Belles of London City

Indoor activities

A programme of historically-themed activities will be running in the Guildhall Art Gallery during the afternoon.

Not to be missed at 1 and 3pm will be author Christopher Lloydtaking children and grown ups on an epic ride through 800 years from the sealing of Magna Carta to the present day. Using a giant 8 metre timeline and a coat of many pockets Christopher will stop off at 10 key moments that show how today’s ideas of freedom and liberty have evolved through time.

Also new for 2015 is the Vintage Mobile Cinema. This unique purpose-built cinema vehicle will be parking up in the Guildhall Yard to show a programme of short films throughout the afternoon. These will include several gems from the London Metropolitan Archive.

  • Calligraphy workshop
  • Medieval dress-up photobooth
  • Archaeological object handling
  • Talks and activities in St Lawrence Jewry, church and the chance to meet Sir Christopher Wren!

Community marketplace

The Yard will once again be lined with colourful market stalls run by local organisations including schools, nurseries, residents’ groups, charities and visitor attractions. The stalls will be offering games, activities, information and handmade items for sale.

There will also be hot food, ice cream and a licensed bar.

Kids Zone

As ever there will plenty on offer for children throughout the site as well as a dedicated Kids Zone with an under-fives soft play area, secure buggy parking facilities, bouncy castle and teacup ride. All free of charge.
