Neighbourhood bar/restaurant, Coin Laundry, on Exmouth Market, has relaunched with a new menu that
celebrates British producers and lets seasonal ingredients sing.

The reimagined Coin Laundry is open for everyday drinks, as well as working lunches and weekday suppers, bottomless weekend brunch and Sunday roasts.

Group Bar Manager Alessandro Paludet’s new drinks menu foregrounds home-brewed beer, classic and more offbeat wines, as well as punchy cocktails.

Paludet’s wine list also balances the familiar with the unpredictable; recognisable wines, such as a New ZealandSauvignon Blanc or Argentinian Malbec, are countered by left-field choices such as an Italian orange wine, a fruity Austrian Zweigelt or a sparkling red, Lambrusco, and guest wines.

Spread over two floors, Coin Laundry’s redesigned interior shows off the original features including the decorative amber and turquoise tiling accented by the statement kitchen counter. The bright space is subtly illuminated by elegant pendant lighting and dotted with comfortable sofas which lend the bar a living-room feel. The vast windows, overlooking Spa Fields, let streams of natural light into
the white and sage-painted interior and the addition of pot plants brings the outdoors, in.

In the summer, the indoors will spill out onto benches lining the bar’s Exmouth Market side, allowing afterwork drinkers to soak-up the last of the sun.

Coin Laundry is a venue from Urban Leisure Group (ULG). ULG is an independent and dynamic company with bars and restaurants open across North, Central and West London including Ask for Janice, Heist Bank, and Bobby Fitzpatrick. Each venue has a unique personality, design, and offering, but all share a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality, quality and innovation.

Coin Laundry first opened in December 2015 and paired 1970s-comfort-food with retro-inflected décor. Coin Laundry is growing up and has swapped Chicken Kievs and Soda-Stream cocktails for gracefully executed Modern British dishes. (Barbican Life reviewed it then – click here to read original review).  The refurb and new menu etc. strike us as an improvement over the original, which was good when looking for a laid back place to eat and drink.)
