Students at the City of London School for Girls, located within the Barbican complex, celebrated the release of this year’s GCSE results with another hugely impressive set of grades. 74% of grades were awarded A*, with an outstanding 96% being awarded A*-A. Many individual successes have been achieved, with over a quarter of the 91 students receiving 10 A*s or more. One student received 12 A*s and 20 students obtained 100% A* grades for all subjects.
Girls excelled in subjects including modern and classical languages with an average of 98.5% A*-A grades across the six languages studied at GCSE level. Combined sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) also received a fantastic average of over 77% A*s.
Headmistress, Ena Harrop has commented: “This has been another brilliant year for the Year 11 students at CLSG. Our girls have excelled in this year’s GCSEs, with the vast majority of subjects receiving almost all A* and A grades. At a time when we have been warned of exam results volatility, CLSG girls have proved that their hard work and the support of their teachers remains a winning combination.”
The results demonstrate the dedication not only of the students, but also the commitment of the staff. We look forward to welcoming these talented pupils in to Sixth Form at City this September where we know that they will continue their achievements at AS and A2 Level, as well as making the most of the wide range extracurricular activities available to them in their final years of schooling.
