Background

The Imagine Fund was Culture Mile’s pilot participatory grantmaking project – an opportunity for them to hear from the community about what was important, and provide small amounts of seed funding to local people to test ideas.

What is participatory grant-making?

Participatory grant-making cedes decision-making power about funding – including the strategy and criteria behind those decisions – to the very communities that funders aim to serve.

In this event we’ll hear from members of the Imagine Panel, who worked together to make decisions on the applications to the fund, and some the grantees who led the 10 selected projects.

It’s also an opportunity to hear about where we want to take these models next, and to feed in any ideas you may have. Take a seat at the table, we look forward to seeing you at the Feast!

Did you take part in any of the projects backed by the imagine fund? such as City Carers Community activity sessions? Or perhaps the lockdown poems?

Culture Mile in 2020 had invited local residents to submit ideas, they offered micro-grants supporting local people to develop new ideas – creative, cultural or community. The list of the grantees were: https://www.culturemile.london/news/imagine-fund-projects
