Fontana Reale Morgia Noce Aglianico Riserva 2011 DOC 15%

Since our successful inaugural ‘Italian Wine Journey’ event in October 2017 at Fish Central Restaurant (featured in Barbican Life December 2017), one of the wines we featured, ‘Morgia Noce’ Aglianico Riserva from Fontana Reale, has been praised in a Decanter Review of Aglianco wines and forms part of Master of  Wine, Susan Hulme’s ‘Dream Dozen’! It was described as “smooth texture with v. attractive, raspberry spice flavours” (scoring 89 points out of 100).  Aglianico is the great red grape of Campania capable of making wines to rival the best in Italy – hence is often referred to as ‘the Barolo of the south’.  Also, 8 wines featured at the event are now available at GS Wines. Represented are two important wineries – Monsupello and Maggi Francesco,  from Lombardy who offer Pinot Noir, Riesling, Buttafuoco (Spitfire), Muller Thurgau wines. Not many people in the UK  know that Lombardy makes some really superb Pinot Noir wines, especially in the form of white and pink sparkling wines – we can heartily recommend them.  We also have award winning Sangiovese from Villa Trentola (Emilia Romagna).
