Following the success of the first open day held on 11 January 2014 for Barbican residents, Crossrail’s contractors BNK Joint Venture are again opening the doors to the Crossrail Moorgate Shaft and inviting you once more to come and see the progress made on the work site.
A lot of activity has taken place in the past six months with the Moorgate shaft excavations now reaching some 30 metres into the ground. Within the coming months BNK plan to have completed their work here. The site will be handed over to the follow on contractors to fit out the shaft and extend the Moorgate western ticket hall ready for the phased opening of Crossrail services in 2018.
Tours will take place on the hour starting at 09:00 with the last tour beginning at 16:00. More than 300 residents enjoyed the tours on the last open day, with demand outstripping availability, so book early to avoid disappointment. Each tour will typically last for 45 minutes consisting of a
25 minute presentation followed by a question and answer session on our viewing platform where you will see the works progressing.
As per last time, there is no requirement for personal protective clothing to be worn as the viewing platform sits above the work site. We advise flat soled shoes be worn as the platform is made with an open grid steel mesh floor. Access is not step free, however we will endeavour to cater for all needs.
Entry will be from the Moorfields Highwalk opposite the City Boot wine bar and is strictly by appointment so there is no need to queue for entry.
