A new, free health service for Barbican residents has been launched this month.

City LivingWise is for all Barbican residents aged 18+ who would like to lose weight, be more active and/or have an NHS health check.

This brand new health programme is commissioned by City of London Corporation and offers a completely free 12 week weight management course; a free personal exercise programme (on GP referral); and, for residents aged 40-74, an NHS Health Check – helping to prevent diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease and stroke.

City LivingWise is delivered by health intervention specialists Reed Momenta – anyone joining the service will benefit from specialist programmes developed by experts in psychology, nutrition and physiology.

Dr. Paul Chadwick, Consultant Clinical and Health Psychologist at Reed Momenta, said: “This is a great opportunity for Barbican residents to benefit from cutting edge healthy lifestyle programmes designed by some of the UK’s leading experts in health, physical activity and nutrition.

“We have ripped up the rule book that promotes crash dieting and no pain no gain approaches to getting fitter. Our programmes are based on supporting people to make gradual changes to their lifestyle that over time transform their health and wellbeing, empowering people to take control of the way that they live their lives, for the rest of their lives.”
