The resurgence of Shoreditch as an area for trendy popular eating continues with the opening of pasta specialist Padella’s second establishment on Phipp Street, between City Road and Great Eastern Street. The initial Padella in Borough has become one of the most popular restaurants in the Borough Market area with lomg queues forming outside virtually every lunchtime. It was voted one of the top 100 restaurants in London in TimeOut in 2016 and in the Sunday Times in 2017 and has appeared in several other ‘best of’ lists. It also has accolades as providing both exceptional quality pasta dishes and being one of the best value places to eat in London.

Padella was set up by Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda who also operate Trullo in Islington.  The concept is to offer a relatively limited (in size) menu of freshly made pasta dishes, as well as some antipasti to get you going, all at very reasonable prices.

The Padella restaurants are said to be the culmination of Tim and Jordan’s wish to open a pasta bar serving freshly made pasta and delicious fillings and sauces inspired b y their visits to Italy. The new restaurant opened on February 13th,  The original restaurant also included a bakery, and this is being moved to the new Shoreditch site.

Padella does not operate a normal reservation system but an online queue whereby you apply to join the queue online and they will come back to you with a time!

The Shoreditch Padella is at 1 Phipp St, London EC2A 4PS and is open Monday-Saturday from Noon to 3.45 pm and 5pm to 10pm and on Sunday Noon to 3.45pm and 5-9 pm.  Website is at www.padella.co
