Good news for everyone who has commented on the dismal disused platform at Barbican Station. Friends of City Gardens have been asked by TFL to create a pop up garden on the platform. We are working with Gensler, the landscape architects, who have volunteered to create a design for the garden on a pro bono basis. We plan to use as many recycled railway materials as possible in the construction and the garden will be built by volunteers. We hope local businesses will help sponsor the project.

Friends of City Gardens http://www.friendsofcitygardens.org.uk is a community group run by volunteers. We have about 60 members and have carried out a number of projects to enhance biodiversity and to engage with residents and schools in gardens across the City.
This is a huge project for us. So – FoCG would like your help!
Stage one – starting now – is the design and construction of the planters and identifying and approaching potential sponsors. We need volunteers with skills in:
Construction
Design
Landscaping, and
Fundraising
Stage two – starting mid-April – will involve drawing up a planting plan, and then planting and maintaining the garden. We hope to have the garden installed by this summer.
