The latest trend for bar/restaurants with slightly risque names has now been followed by the Malmaison hotel relaunching its restaurant in its quiet Charterhouse Square location as Stripbar and Steak.  In order not to disappoint some visitors perhaps looking for something else, the Strip part of the name relates to the New York Strip Steak cut and the refurbed restaurant is themed as an American style restaurant specialising in steaks – but obviously serving other food as well.  The hotel describes it as a modern twist on the traditional steakhouse with a fresh, fun interpretation of the New York dining staple.

A lively launch party on November 6th was attended by some celebrities we have even heard of, and most we haven’t, as well as media representatives, local business people and even some Barbican residents, presumably invited to up the class and tone of attendees.

In parallel, the hotel’s 97 rooms, including two suites, have been redesigned with stripped wooden floorboards, feature wallpapers, bespoke furniture, extra large flatscreen televisions etc.  Street artist Xenz has also been responsible for a new theme of tasteful mural decorations throughout the hotel.
