Care at home

The Good Care Group (The Good Care Group (www.thegoodcaregroup.com;Tel: 020 3728 7577) can provide live- in 24 hour carers.

Home Instead (www.homeinstead.co.uk/westminstercity; Tel: 020 3328 6546) also provide 24 hour carers, though not living in.

A Barbican resident with experience of both companies reports that almost all the carers have been excellent and the organisation by their respective companies is very good.

A Gilbert House resident is having care 24 hours (not live in) from Explora Haven (explorahaven.com; Tel: 020 8450 4999).

Another local company providing care is Bluebird Care (www.bluebirdcare.co.uk/westminster-city-of-london; Tel: 020 8016 2217).

Patients returning home from hospital may be eligible for six weeks free carers from the City of London (organised by the social worker allocated while the patient is still in hospital). This gives time for recovery and possible arrangement of private carers.
