I suppose we will have to go with the flow here with the traditional Christian Mothering Sunday celebrations, on the 4th Sunday in Lent, having been usurped by the rather more commercial ‘Mother’s Day’ which has crossed over the Atlantic to our shores. Mother’s Day, which falls this year on March 6th, is thus perhaps the more inclusive term being totally non-denominational – and why shouldn’t we have a celebration aimed at our mothers?
So, the 3 South Place Restaurant on the ground floor of the South Place Hotel, halfway between Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations (and thus only a short walk from the Barbican) , is laying on what it describes as a Mother’s Day brunch to remember this year. It says you can expect a bustling, lively atmosphere and three-course menu showcasing the best of British seasonal ingredients, including dishes such as fillet of stone-bass, honey-glazed chicken wings, celeriac risotto, with a wild mushroom sauce. It will be a feast for the eyes and ears as well as your taste buds, you’ll be treated to a side serving of live jazz from the Audioguido trio.
Mums will be thoroughly spoiled with a complimentary neck and shoulder massage, and a goodie bag of hand-picked treats from a selection of the hotel’s London partners including; Artisan Jam and Honey supplier ‘Butterfly and the Bee’, East End soy candle specialists ‘East Wick’, and luxury perfumer and cosmetics producer ‘James Heeley’.
The Mother’s Day Brunch at 3 South Place takes place on Sunday 6th March, with sittings available from 12noon – 4pm. Visit the website for further information and to view the menu in full. Or call 020 3215 1207.
