Only 2 days after the party launch of the stunning new Broadgate Circle dining amphitheatre, some of the team from The Botanist were on hand to help with their colleagues at The Jugged Hare for the Sipsmith Summer Terrace Pop-Up.
The Sipsmith Terrace is right across the road between The Brewery on Chiswell Street and The Jugged Hare. It is the long, thin area behind the railings.
The Summer Cup cocktail was the perfect ice-cooled hello and we took advantage of the sun which kissed us well into the evening!
The delicious canapés were cleverly labelled with name-tags and highlighted the quality you’d expect from our game-specialist local.
- Kiln smoked salmon mini fishcakes, watercress purée
- Mini fish and chip fork
- Barbary duck rillette, baby gherkin
- Mini Dexter beef burger, smoked Applewood cheddar
- Venison scotch egg, Cumberland sauce
- Clonakility Irish black and white pudding sausage roll – VERY moreish!
- Chicken, tarragon and wild mushroom ‘vol-au-vent’
- Goats cheese tart, poppy seeds
- Vegetable spring rolls, sweet chilli sauce
Having walked by the terrace plenty of times, I never realised that it is surprisingly spacious and one doesn’t feel at all too close to the traffic. The railings are more of a comforting psychological barrier and you get the sense of chic stylish sidewalk café when you are sitting at one of the wrought iron terrace tables.
Also true to form, we were cosseted in the gentleman’s club style of The Jugged Hare with the Chesterfield sofa and leather armchairs too. The Sipsmith Terrace is a flexible space because there are multiple gates which can be opened or closed depending on how many parties are going on at the same time. Typically, to have an event here, you don’t have to rent the space, you just have a minimum spend (prices start at £500 for 20 people) and The Jugged Hare also have a range of Party Packages which include the food and drinks at around the same price if you want to take the headache away and let them to do the thinking and planning side for you). You can take the space from 12pm-4pm or 5pm-9pm, and The Jugged Hare has a backup plan for inside the pub if the weather isn’t friendly on the day.
